BATTLE of 50mm f/1.4 PRIMES. Olympus vs Canon vs Nikon

BATTLE of 50mm f/1.4 PRIMES. Olympus vs Canon vs Nikon

…natives. Below are my own thoughts about the results. You are more than welcome to share your own thoughts and the comments below. The first test was to determine how nice is the bokeh from these 3 lenses. Wide open all 3 lenses have nice, soft bokeh. The Canon, probably has the softest, Olympus is also really good, but I would say Nikon was producing the least round out-of- focus circles. I personally prefer round circles. At f/2.0 Canon and Olym… Continue Reading

Rokinon 35mm f/1.4 Lens Review

Rokinon 35mm f/1.4 Lens Review

…the benefits mentioned above together with incredible, clean, sharp optics comparable to Canon L and modern Zeiss lens. There is now also the new Cine Version of this lens featuring the integrated follow focus rings and step-less aperture adjustment making this lens even more attractive to any filmmaker. I highly recommend this lens looking for a fast 35mm prime, be it vintage or modern. P.S. Thanks again for the shout out Mark!   Click to find Ro… Continue Reading

Pentax SMC 200mm f/2.5 Lens Test

Pentax SMC 200mm f/2.5 Lens Test

…g down the lens helps, but you have to be at f/5.6 to get rid of it almost completely, which is less than perfect. And at the end of the day, how much difference does actually f2.5 makes comparing to f2.8. Well not that much really, it’s only a third of a stop and while it does affect the brightness and bokeh a little bit as you’ve probably seen in the test above, alone it’s not worth paying the extra $400 and should not be the reason for choosing… Continue Reading

Olympus Zuiko 50mm f/1.4 vs Helios 44M 58mm f/2

Olympus Zuiko 50mm f/1.4 vs Helios 44M 58mm f/2

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRtKvQgm8PU&feature=player_embedded I’ve tested both of these lenses before, so the individual write-ups and opinions can be found here (for Olympus) and here (for Helios). Someone on the website asked me which one based batter based on image quality Olympus Zuiko OM 50mm f/1.4 or Helios 44m 58mm f/2, so I decided to do this quick test with my Olympus and the Helios I’ve used in my previous test. I think the results… Continue Reading

Nikon Nikkor 100mm f/2.8 AF-S Series E TEST FOOTAGE

…s, turning on the gh2’s crop mode (approx 2.9x), the whole configuration becomes a super compact telephoto video setup, which is ideal for animal shooting, discrete and easy to move around. The lens balances really well with the gh2, focus ring is smooth, and the manual aperture, made it a very pleasurable lens to make video with. The lens was £200 when I got it secondhand, it was a bargain, I find any cons on this lens as it is an old lens, can’t… Continue Reading

Tair 11A 135mm f/2.8 Lens Test Video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQiU9Jk5VGc Here is yet another video from Mario Suze giving us a detailed look at Tair 11A 135mm f/2.8 prime lens. Tair is an old, but very solid and very unusual Russian lens. I have two of these myself and although I haven’t tested them yet, this video really makes me want to have a ago at it. Not only does it produce some very impressive, film-like shots with Canon 5D MKII , but also has some very impressive spe… Continue Reading

SONY LA-EA2 ADAPTER REVIEW | Using A-mount lenses on NEX Cameras

SONY LA-EA2 ADAPTER REVIEW

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWc8DEiGC_A As I said in the video, I really wanted a more sophisticated auto-focusing on my Sony NEX cameras and in theory Sony LA-EA2 adapter was suppose to give this feature by adding phase detection auto-focusing to my 5N and FS100, which is much more sophisticated auto-focusing system than standard contrast-detection auto-focusing on my 5N and FS100. Here is a video that explains Phase-detection better that I p… Continue Reading

TOKINA AT-X 400mm f/5.6 Telephoto Lens | Test Footage

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mr1jTNae6g I’ve been using my Tokina 400mm f/5.6 ever since I bought it as an alternative to my Canon 100-400mm as that lens was getting a bit to expensive for the amount of time I was using it. Here is my test video, which shows how Tokina performs against the 10 times more expensive Canon. In the end the result were not different enough for me to stick with Canon. The Tokina is quite compact for 400mm lens, has a… Continue Reading

MIRANDA 28mm f/2.8 Test & Review

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_x96YgeG8s4 Here is a quick little test video and a review of Miranda 28mm lens by Michelangelo Girardi. This is what Michelangelo had to say about the lens: Since before I switched to my t3i I was the happy owner of a Pentax DSLR (loved it) I kept some of my old lenses in order to use them on my new Canon camera thanks to a cheap adapter I got from ebay. This morning a new lens came through the post from ebay. It’… Continue Reading

Olympus Zuiko 50mm f/1.4 Test Video

Olympus Zuiko 50mm f/1.4 Test Video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQqPqgFubJA My friend Mark from ThatTechShow has recently shot a lens test video with his new Olympus Zuiko 50mm f/1.4. The video was shot on Canon 5D MKII with a neutral (prolost) picture profile for a filming low contrast look. I personally love the look he has achieved with the combination of this lens, full frame camera and a flat picture profile. The bokeh is very likable indeed. I actually use the very same le… Continue Reading
